History of Kung Fu San soo

You can  google Kung Fu San Soo these days and get a myriad of different versions of the hisory of our art. Of all the facts available out there, however, I will just tell you that San Soo definitely originated in China, and there was only one man  responible for bringing it to the United States. His name was Chin Siu Dek, but he is better known as Jimmy Woo. That being said, I will stick to the part that is directly concerned with how a Kung Fu San Soo school ended up in Albuquerque, NM.

Jimmy Woo opened his El Monte, CA school in 1962 and began teaching the art to some pretty rough characters and street fighters. Some of these guys were just really tough guys, as were the streets of El Monte. One of the guys that became a Master, Al Rubin, ended up teaching Dave Hopkins. Dave studied under Mr. Rubin until Mr. Rubin sadly passed away. By all accounts, Master Rubin was one of the greatest martial artists that ever lived. After his death, Dave spent the next 5 years training under Grandmaster Jimmy Woo, attaining his Master degree.

Master Dave went on to open his own school in Riverside, CA where Paul Schroder began to study his new favorite art. Paul had been studying many different arts, as his affinity for the martial arts and adept skill at martial training took him on several different paths until he found a home at Master Dave's school. Paul remained a student under Master Dave until his graduation to Sifu (Master Rank).

Master Paul opened his own school in El Paso, TX. Ish Calleros met Master Paul in a gym in 2004. Ish never looked back as he fell in love with San Soo. Ish became a staple of Master Paul's Academy until reaching his 2nd degree Black Belt under Master Paul. Instructor Ish moved to Albuquerque and under the complete guidance of Master Paul founded KUNG FU SAN SOO OF ALBUQUERQUE where he will continue the great lineage and legacy of high quality KUNG FU SAN SOO. Martial arts people in Albuquerque are in for a treat! KUNG FU SAN SOO is a legendary and devestating art, and the brand that will be taught in Albuquerque is only a few generations removed from the original tree which means these are the actual techniques used in ancient Chinese warfare. Are you the next Kung Fu legend?
